Greyfox Agenda is not a band that was formed. It’s not a band that assembled by people from other projects. In fact, it’s not a band at all. This is a project where ideas from one person comes alive, may it be a smelly cat reminding of progresive rock, or may it be a lo-fi introvert pop atmosphere. It all fits under the umbrella of Greyfox Agenda.
I come from a background of rock/metal, often leaning towards progressive or experiemntal stuff but I also carry influences from regular pop, synth, industrial music. Diversity is my middle name. Would be fun to just list loads of bands and artists that I really appreciate but… Well, why not? List here.
The person behind Greyfox Agenda is me, Magnus. A multi-instrumentalist and vocalist muppet based in Sweden, and this project is my very own.
Disadvantage:
I have to do everything myself.
Advantage:
I get to do everything myself.
Originating from the progressive rock band Lava Engine (2 albums, 1 EP), plans on doing my own stuff was of course born when the band collapsed around 2015 and was put to an end. Direction taken to a somewhat softer type of progressive rock, sometimes reaching for the acoustic singer/songwriter type of music. Somewhere between these two is where to place Greyfox Agenda.
The first EP released 2021, a 4-tracker that really just introduced myself to the fact that this is a real thing and where my ideas are to be collected. There are songs on that EP with the song embryo born already during the Lava Engine years. And some that were written just the week before release.
Ok, it’s possible to run a band on your own as it seems. Then why not strengthen up and work hard on more songs, making a full-length album. And this time with no bucket tape ideas or anything. A clean plate and just a good routine on working as a one-piece orchestra. One With The Sound is the album that really set the direction for Greyfox, I’d say. A real progressive rock album demonstrating what it’s all about.
With the Bygones album I’d already grown tired of myself (as always) and wanted to do a bit more uptempo and maybe more ”entertaining” music - potential fans need not to die of boredom, I’d say. So this one was made for the listener but also for myself due to lots of personal lyrical topics overall. This is also the first album to feature a single release with the song "I Murder".
Mid-decade we see the release of "The One-Seated Kingdom"...
